Basic Jewelry Care
-
Professional cleaning is recommended as frequently as once a year,
depending on how often you wear you jewelry.
- To clean diamonds, use a mild solution of water and a
drop of ammonia and apply with a soft bristle brush.
- Ultrasonic cleaning is not safe for many gemstones,
so please do not use this method.
- Examine your jewelry often to make sure the settings
are snug and the clasps and joining are secure. Prong settings are vulnerable,
if hit against hard surface or snagged on clothing; they may loosen risking the loss of a gemstone.
- Avoid exposing gold jewelry to household bleach and cleaners,
which will cause gold to disintegrate and discolor.
- Please store jewelry in its original packaging or another protected box.
- Take care to protect your jewelry from impact against hard surfaces
and avoid contact with abrasive surfaces. Even a diamond can chip if hit with force
or just the right angle. Many stones are very delicate and easily abraded. Gemstones
can scratch other gemstones and wear away at precious metals.
- Extreme temperatures, perfumes, cosmetics and household chemicals can damage jewelry.
Gemstone Enhancement
The beauty of gemstones for nearly four thousand years has been enhanced by various methods. Before modern stone-cutting techniques were developed, oils and dyes were used to bring out the color in stones. Since ancient civilization, emeralds have been soaked in colorless oil to make them appear more beautiful. This practice continues today.
It was also discovered that heating certain gemstones could produce changes in color. Legend is that Marco Polo observed the application of heat to rubies in Ceylon and introduced the practice in Europe. The hearing process is a practice that has been accepted worldwide.
Our Enhancement Policy
Egemstore selects only the finest gemstones for its jewelry. Our gemstones are inspected for quality, beauty, and durability. We select stones to meet our standard for color, clarity and cut. We accept enhancement that meant to improve the beauty of the stone. We do not use any enhanced gemstones to increase a stone's weight, or to mask its potential durability, unless otherwise certificated.
We do not use conflict diamonds in our jewelry.

For the Jewelry Connoisseur
APPEARANCE
Not all jewelry is pretty. The key to a dazzling sparkler is the stone's proportion
and how its faceted been placed. Real beauty comes from sparkle, which should
emanate from the center of the stone and not appear concentrated in its corner.
BRAND
There is a reason that jewelry from the world's most prestigious jewelers cost more;
the stones and craftmanship are often better. A purchase from a branded jewelry company
is a safer investment as authenticity is guaranteed.
COLOR
Many jewelry connoisseurs chase the most precious and rarest of precious gems, like white diamonds,
rich green emeralds, Kashmir or Ceylon sapphires and Burma red Rubies. Elite jewelry always
comes with an eye-popping price tag, but has the benefit of appearing more discreet -
unless you are in the know.
FLAWLESSNESS
The pursuit of precious gem perfection is the obsession of a true connoisseur.
A white diamond, green emerald, blue sapphire and red ruby that is internally flawless
is the best of the best. To the connoisseur, the pursuit of perfection is the ultimate charm of jewelry.
